Do you need a license to kayak in Vancouver?
We issue you a one-day Boater’s License and this will allow you to drive any of our Jet Ski or Sea-Doo boats for the duration of your tour or rental. You must have a valid driver’s license to operate any of our Jet Ski or Sea-Doo boats.
Can you kayak around Stanley Park?
There are no kayak/paddleboard rentals locations in Stanley Park itself. However, there are kayak/paddleboard rentals at English Bay which is close enough for you to kayak into the waters around Stanley Park. The kayak/paddleboard rentals are available seasonally from late May until September.
Can I Kayak in Burnaby Lake?
Burnaby Lake has a rowing course suitable for canoeing, kayaking and rowing training. The rowing pavilion at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex has change rooms and a public canoe launch.
Can you bring your own kayak to Deep Cove?
You can explore the cove itself, or you can take your kayak or paddleboard out of Deep Cove and to one of the following locations. This Indian Arm map mentions the locations detailed below to help get your bearings but it’s not to scale so make sure you do additional research on distances.
Is it illegal to kayak without a life jacket in BC?
A Canadian approved personal floatation device (PFD) or lifejacket of appropriate size is required for each person on board. It isn’t necessary to wear a PFD but one sitting in the bottom of the boat doesn’t save you if it floats away while you cling to a sweeper/snag in fast current or the wind carries it away.
Is it safe to kayak without a life jacket?
The short answer to this question is yes. In most locations, there’s not going to be ‘life jacket police’ waiting at the shoreline to make sure you’re wearing a PFD before you enter your kayak and start paddling out. But any good list of kayak safety equipment starts with a personal flotation device.
